Job summary

Beowulf Electricity and Data is seeking an experienced Lead Operator to oversee 24/7 data center operations in Barker, NY. You will lead a team of Desk, Inside, Outside, and Relief Operators, coordinate rounds, and manage incident response to maintain reliability of critical electrical, mechanical, cooling, and life-safety systems.

The role requires strong SOP discipline, hands-on leadership, and the ability to document events and incidents meticulously.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical degree, trade school education, military technical background, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in mission-critical, industrial, utility, power generation, high-density computing, or data center operations preferred.
• Two or more years of shift lead, crew lead, supervisory, or equivalent operational leadership experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution, HVAC and cooling infrastructure, alarms, monitoring systems, maintenance coordination, and incident escalation.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, single-line diagrams, shift logs, and work instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with disciplined documentation habits.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate Desk Operators, Inside Operators, Outside Operators, and Relief Operators during your shift.
• Conduct shift turnover briefings and maintain operational continuity between crews.
• Assign rounds, inspections, work orders, and operator tasks based on priorities.
• Coach operators, reinforce procedures, and provide on-the-job training.
• Monitor electrical, mechanical, cooling, life safety, and facility systems.
• Direct the first response to alarms, equipment faults, and customer-impacting events.
• Coordinate troubleshooting, escalation, and post-event follow-up.
• Review SOPs, MOPs, EOPs before field execution and verify readiness.
