Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd seeks a Shift Lead to oversee 24/7 data center operations in Austin, TX. You will manage handovers across four rotating 12-hour crews, ensuring no loss of tasks or information while maintaining safety and performance.

Work closely with the delivery manager to monitor queues, SLAs, and cross-shift bottlenecks. Strong client-facing communication is essential to translate technical updates for leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in data center operations, IT service management or 24/7 technical operations.
• Experience running or coordinating shift handovers, cross-shift workflows or 24/7 production schedules.
• Time working in a continuous operation, ideally on 12-hour shift patterns.
• A solid understanding of data center environments and infrastructure.
• Clear, fast communication that conveys complex technical status accurately.
• A confident client-facing presence, with the ability to manage expectations and give technical updates.

Responsibilities

• Run the handover windows between the four crews, so no task, incident or information is lost.
• Audit shift logs from every crew and ensure full visibility of ongoing issues during handovers.
• Standardise procedures across crews to ensure consistent work across all shifts.
• Monitor live queues for tickets, deployments and alerts while tracking SLAs across shifts.
• Escalate delivery roadblocks that span more than one shift.
• Balance workload to clear backlogs and prevent burnout across teams.
• Track and report delivery metrics, downtime and handover efficiency with regular reports.
• Collaborate with team leads to document best practices for 24/7 operations.
• Serve as day-to-day client contact on cross-shift delivery and translate updates for leadership.

Job description

Our client runs its data center operations around the clock, across four rotating 12-hour crews.

As Shift Lead, you would keep that operation continuous, so critical tasks, open incidents and delivery targets pass from one crew to the next without anything dropped and without any dip in safety or performance.

You would work directly with the delivery manager and the client. Your shift is your base, but your remit covers all four crews, and you are the person who sees across every one of them.

What you will do

• Run the handover windows between the four crews, so no task, incident or piece of information is lost
• Audit shift logs from every crew and check that each incoming team has full visibility of ongoing issues
• Spot where different crews run the same procedures differently, and standardise them so work is done consistently on every shift
• Watch live queues for tickets, deployments and alerts, and keep SLAs on track across all shifts
• Act as the escalation point for delivery roadblocks that run across more than one shift
• Balance workload between shifts to clear backlogs and avoid burnout
• Track and report on delivery metrics, downtime and handover efficiency, with daily, weekly and monthly reports to your manager
• Work with team leads to fix issues that keep recurring on particular shifts, and document best practice for the 24/7 operating model
• Be the trusted day-to-day contact for the client on cross-shift delivery, and turn technical shift updates into clear summaries for client leadership
• Escalate systemic bottlenecks to the delivery manager with a proposed fix

Who this is not for

If your background is project or program management with no live operations, or a single-shift office role, this will not be the right fit. Experience leading or coordinating shift teams in a data center, NOC or critical facility is what we want to see.

Practicalities

• Must be based in Austin, Texas, or willing to relocate
• Mid-day shift, 2pm to 10pm
• Reports to the delivery manager
