Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Virginia seeks a Data Center Security Systems Engineer to design, engineer, and integrate complex security systems across AWS data centers.

You will develop specs, drive standardization, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deploy secure, scalable solutions. This role requires 4+ years in mechanical engineering or equivalent, experience with prototyping, and travel about 25%.

• 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer physical security systems for AWS data centers, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related technologies
• Develop technical specifications, product requirements, and build plans for security system implementations
• Evaluate and recommend solutions that balance security effectiveness, cost, scalability, and operational complexity
• Drive complex system integration projects across internal teams and external partners
• Collaborate cross-functionally across AWS organizations to integrate security requirements into designs and standards
• Contribute to the standardization of security system designs across the global data center portfolio
• Develop automation solutions that improve the efficiency and reliability of security system deployment, configuration, and management
• Create technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and training materials that enable field operations teams to support products throughout the full lifecycle
• Ensure compliance with internal security standards, policies, and organizational requirements
• Domestic and international travel approximately 25% of the time
