Job summary

HazTek is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety operations for mission-critical data center construction in Reno, NV. The role emphasizes proactive hazard mitigation, close collaboration with project teams, and accountability for safety performance.

The ideal candidate brings deep construction safety know-how, field leadership, and the ability to manage complex environments with multiple subcontractors while upholding HazTek's values of integrity and leadership.

Qualifications

• 7 years of direct construction safety experience, including data center projects.
• Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety or related field preferred.
• OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 500 certification a plus.
• CHST or CSP certification preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of OSHA construction standards and safety practices.
• Experience overseeing complex multi-subcontractor environments.
• Strong safety planning, risk management and hazard mitigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall safety leadership and field oversight for data center construction activities.
• Ensure OSHA and project safety standards compliance.
• Maintain active field presence to identify hazards and reinforce safe work practices.
• Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks and site orientations.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, audits and risk assessments with corrective actions.
• Oversee subcontractor safety performance and adherence to safety requirements.
• Collaborate with project team to integrate safety into planning and execution.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee high-risk activities (fall protection, scaffolding, steel erection, excavation, crane ops).
• Provide safety oversight for electrical and mechanical construction activities.
• Identify risks from simultaneous operations and coordinate mitigations.
• Review and reinforce JHAs/AHAs and safety documentation.
• Support site safety plan implementation and continuous improvement.
• Promote safety ownership and accountability across teams.
• Serve as safety resource to leadership and field teams.
