Job summary

HazTek is seeking a Safety Manager for mission-critical data center construction. You will lead safety leadership on-site, drive OSHA compliance, and coordinate with project teams and subcontractors to maintain top safety standards in Reno, NV.

The role requires 7+ years in construction safety, strong communication, and a hands-on approach to hazard identification, risk mitigation, and incident investigations. HazTek emphasizes accountability, integrity, and employee safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of direct construction safety experience required, preferably supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
• Degree in a safety-related field preferred.
• OSHA 510 and/or OSHA 500 certification a plus.
• CHST or CSP certification Required.
• Advanced knowledge of OSHA construction standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Experience overseeing complex construction environments involving multiple subcontractors, trades, and simultaneous construction activities.
• Strong ability to identify hazards, assess risk, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence personnel at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall safety leadership and oversight for mission-critical data center construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety standards.
• Maintain a visible field presence, identifying hazards and reinforcing safe work practices.
• Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite orientations.
• Perform safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments with timely corrective actions.
• Oversee subcontractor safety performance and enforce project safety requirements.
• Lead accident investigations, document findings, and implement preventive measures.
• Monitor high-risk activities such as fall protection, scaffolding, and crane operations.
• Provide safety oversight for electrical and mechanical construction activities.
• Review JHAs/AHAs and site safety plans; promote continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with project teams to minimize exposure and integrate safety into planning.
