Job description

Data Center Quality Engineer - Fiber / Racks / Structured Cabling
Location: New Albany, OH
Schedule: Full-time onsite
Contract: Long-term project

We're supporting a large-scale data center build and looking for hands-on infrastructure professionals with strong quality instincts.

You do not necessarily need to come from a formal QA/QC title. We're interested in candidates who have worked directly with rack deployments, fiber/copper cabling, structured cabling, hardware installation, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and technician oversight and understand what good installation quality looks like.

The focus of the role is simple: inspect the work, catch defects early, document them clearly, make sure they're corrected, and confirm the infrastructure is ready for acceptance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Inspect rack builds, cabling, equipment, and installation workmanship
  • Validate fiber/copper routing, labeling, patching, cable management, and physical connectivity
  • Compare completed work to drawings, layouts, rack elevations, and site standards
  • Review prefabricated infrastructure and incoming materials before deployment
  • Identify damaged, incomplete, misrouted, mislabeled, or non-compliant work
  • Photograph and document deficiencies
  • Support punch lists and corrective-action tracking
  • Verify repairs, rework, and retesting before closeout
  • Work directly with technicians, leads, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Support troubleshooting of physical-layer connectivity issues

Strong Profiles May Come From

  • Data Center Technician / Lead
  • Fiber Technician
  • Structured Cabling Technician
  • Network Infrastructure Technician
  • Connectivity Engineer
  • QA/QC Engineer
  • Field Engineer
  • Low Voltage / Telecom Infrastructure
  • Data Center Construction or Deployment

Key Experience

  • Fiber optics and copper cabling
  • Rack-and-stack / rack deployment
  • Patch panels, labeling, pathways, and cable management
  • Testing and troubleshooting
  • Reading drawings or rack elevations
  • Inspection and workmanship validation
  • Punch lists, defect documentation, corrective action, or turnover
  • Technician or vendor oversight is a plus

This role is ideal for someone who knows how data center infrastructure is actually built and wants to move into a position with more responsibility for quality, inspection, and project readiness.
