Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer to support project leadership during the design phase, aligning scope, budget, schedule, and team experience to ensure a smooth transition to construction operations.

In this role you will help establish budgets, create schedules and milestones, assist with regulatory approvals and bid packages, and participate in risk review to maintain strong financial performance across our Denver-area projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating or equivalent field.
• Minimum of two years relevant experience.
• Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Support the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team experience, construction readiness, and excellent financial performance
• Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and any associated communications and resources
• Create and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for reaching set milestones
• Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process
• Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals
• Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection
• Identify technical design and specification concerns, elevate as needed to achieve resolution

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating or equivalent field
