Job summary

Fusion Solutions, LLC is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on racking, cabling, decommissioning, and optical testing to ensure uptime and high-quality service.

The candidate will perform remote hands tasks, troubleshoot 10/100G circuits, and collaborate with control centers and customers. US Citizenship is required; on-site work is expected in data center environments.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in data center operations or a similar environment.
• Experience with rack, cabling, and hardware replacement.
• Strong English communication and customer-facing skills.
• Must meet safety and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Break-Fix: work outside normal hours, including nights and weekends when needed.
• Remote Hands: follow MOPs, install and test data center equipment, support telecom networks.
• Cabling: install and troubleshoot Ethernet/fiber cabling and connectors.
• Optical Testing and Troubleshooting: use OTDR, power meters, and related test gear.
• Site Audits: verify equipment placement and document results.
• Racking and Stacking: organize hardware in racks per SOPs.
• Decommissioning: safely remove obsolete hardware.
• Hardware Replacement: swap faulty components in transport routers, servers, switches.
• Power Management: manage redundant power, ATS, and hot/cold aisles.
• Documentation: read cut-sheets and ensure correct port/cable mapping.
• AC and DC Power Equipment: maintain and troubleshoot power systems.
• Provide oversight of 3rd parties on-site activities.
