Job summary

Fusion Solutions, LLC in Austin, TX seeks a Data Center Optical Engineer to support racking, cabling, and testing of data center transport networks, delivering top-tier customer service and hands-on technical support.

You will perform break-fix, remote hands, cabling, optical testing and turn-ups, site audits, and power management while ensuring safe, compliant operations and clear documentation for projects.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of data center technician experience.
• Experience with racking, cabling, and testing in data centers.
• Able to perform break-fix and after-hours work when needed.
• Strong written and oral English communication.

Responsibilities

• Break-Fix: shift work including nights and weekends when required.
• Remote Hands: install, test, and troubleshoot data center equipment.
• Cabling: manage Ethernet and fiber cabling and connectors.
• Optical Testing and Troubleshooting: use testing gear for circuits and turn-ups.
• Site Audits: validate equipment placement and cable lengths.
• Racking and Stacking: install and organize hardware in racks.
• Decommissioning: safely remove outdated hardware.
• Hardware Replacement: replace faulty network equipment.
• Power Management: manage power feeds and ATS.
• Documentation: read cut-sheets and document port connections.
• AC/DC Power Equipment: maintain power distribution and connectivity.
• Oversite of 3rd parties’ on-site activities.
