Job summary

Fusion Solutions, LLC is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to ensure reliable operation of our data center facilities. The role includes racking, cabling, testing, and troubleshooting transport optics and related networks.

You will perform Break-Fix, Remote Hands, and decommissioning tasks, coordinate with vendors, document procedures, and maintain safety standards while delivering strong customer support.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in data center operations or similar environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with racking, cabling, and network transport optical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Break-Fix: ability to work outside normal hours, including nights and weekends.
• Remote Hands: install and test data center equipment per MOPs and vendor docs.
• Cabling: install and troubleshoot Ethernet and fiber cables and connectors.
• Optical Testing and Troubleshooting: use power meters, OTDRs, and test equipment to validate circuits.
• Site Audits: review specs, document placements and cable lengths.
• Racking and Stacking: organize hardware in racks and follow SOPs.
• Decommissioning: safely remove outdated hardware.
• Hardware Replacement: swap faulty components in transport routers, servers, switches.
• Power Management: manage power feeds and ATS; optimize hot/cold aisles.
• Documentation: read cut-sheets and ensure correct port connections.
• AC and DC Power Equipment: maintain and troubleshoot power equipment.
• Oversight: supervise 3rd parties on-site.
