Job summary

CyrusOne in Durham, NC, seeks an Operations & Maintenance technician to support data center facilities under the Sr Facility Manager. You will help maintain critical systems, monitor alarms, and ensure reliable power and cooling for client workloads.

You will use CMMS to track work orders, coordinate with vendors, and follow SOPs while safeguarding staff and equipment. The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical skills and a willingness to work extended hours during emergencies.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in Tier 2–4 Data Center(s) or in operations & maintenance/building engineering roles.
• Entry level skills in electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R disciplines.
• Familiarity and knowledge of Work Order Control procedures and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Experience with subcontractor and vendor contract management.
• Experience with managing key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Experience with capacity planning and reporting.
• Able to use hand tools, test equipment, and be knowledgeable of maintenance shop practices at apprentice level for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot via GUIs and stabilize operations while OEMs are on site.
• Strong problem solving, decision-making and communication skills.
• Willingness to adjust hours for emergencies and extended on-site coverage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate data center equipment per the O&M program.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to complete work safely on site.
• Respond to building system alarms prioritizing critical load preservation.
• Perform equipment modifications with lockout/tagout and safe work setup.
• Follow SOPs/MOPs/EOPs and internal safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with company, government, and client policies.
