Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team maintains the physical infrastructure behind our search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Data Center Technicians, oversee quality installation of server hardware and components, and take charge of complex installations and troubleshooting.

Your team configures networks, routers, hubs, switches, and related protocols, develops project contingency plans, and ensures reliable data-center operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
• 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.
• Experience in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure, and Linux/Unix administration.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the management and implementation of multiple projects for your team.
• Ensure data center related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
• Hire, coach, and develop a team of technical staff to meet objectives.
• Work with others to set and implement short-term and long-term strategy for the site.
• Oversee the computing hardware and networking operations of a data center site, while identifying problems and creating solutions for computing and network architecture.
