Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team leads the state-of-the-art data center infrastructure behind the company's search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Data Center Technicians, ensuring quality installations of servers and components and handling complex installations and troubleshooting.

You will configure hardware and server software, oversee networks and networking components, and may direct small projects within larger deployments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
  • 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.
  • Experience in site-level data center operational leadership.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate priorities team-wide and facilitate management of operations to following shift leads.
  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for the global computing and network architecture.
  • Manage the implementation of projects within the team and ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data center technical hardware operations.
