Job summary

Paragon Alpha - Hedge Fund Talent Business is partnering with a leading systematic trading firm to hire a Data Center Operations Engineer in New York. You will join the global data center operations team, collaborating with networking and infrastructure groups to deploy, maintain and support the physical IT infrastructure across locations.

Responsibilities include installing and supporting servers and network devices, cabling, patching, rack-and-stack, and hardware break-fixes.

Qualifications

• Experience in data centre, IT infrastructure, network operations, hardware support or similar environment.
• Hands-on experience installing or supporting servers, network devices, cabling or other IT hardware.
• Strong attention to detail around cabling, labeling, documentation and build quality.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with internal teams, vendors and third-party engineers.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and broaden data centre knowledge.
• Ability to work safely within live data centre environments.

• Support physical installation, maintenance and decommissioning of servers, network switches and data centre equipment.
• Rack, stack, cable and label equipment to high standards.
• Install and manage copper, fibre and power cabling, including patching between devices and patch panels.
• Carry out hardware break-fix activities and replace failed components.
• Support hardware deliveries, stock management, spare parts, equipment movements and site logistics.
• Coordinate with colocation providers, vendors, remote hands and onsite engineers for planned and reactive work.
• Maintain high standards of data centre cleanliness, cabling, labeling, security and operational discipline.
• Support planned work and break-fix activities across the global data centre environment.

We're working with a leading systematic trading firm that is posting consistent high returns year on year. They are looking for a data center operations engineer to join their ever expanding team.

You will join their established data center operations team, working closely with networking engineering and wider infrastructure teams. You will help deploy, maintain and support the physical technology infrastructure used across their global data center locations.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the physical installation, maintenance and decommissioning of servers, network switches and other data centre equipment
• Rack, stack, cable and label equipment to a consistently high standard
• Install and manage copper, fibre and power cabling, including patching between devices and patch panels
• Carry out hardware break-fix activities, including replacing failed components, cables, optics, power supplies and other parts
• Support hardware deliveries, stock management, spare parts, equipment movements and site logistics
• Work with colocation providers, vendors, remote hands and onsite engineers to complete planned and reactive work
• Help maintain high standards of data centre cleanliness, cabling, labelling, security and general operational discipline
