Job summary

AWS is seeking an Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join a front-line team responsible for maintaining and operating critical data center infrastructure. You will monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems, troubleshoot events, perform rack installs and decommissions, and drive change management through precise documentation.

You’ll work hands-on with stand-by generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, and cooling systems, while collaborating with site FM and vendors.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant work experience (basic qualifications)
• Experience in field operations and facility maintenance
• Able to bend/twist body into unusual positions while working
• Able to manipulate small wires and objects by hand
• Able to walk on uneven terrain and work at heights from ladders

Responsibilities

• Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment for 24/7 reliability
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
• Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLAs
• Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
• Create technical write-ups to support change management program
• Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion
• Provide on-site support of contractors, subcontractors and vendors per established practices
• Shift changes may occur; some locations require up to 12-hour shifts and on-call rotations
• Role may support more than one location/site
