Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Technical Program Manager to oversee the design of post-facility ready mechanical system upgrades and retrofits. This role will build design teams from internal stakeholders and external partners, guiding external design services for construction support.

The ideal candidate will bring deep mission-critical design and construction experience, plus exposure to new product development and insertion, with strong leadership across multi-disciplinary programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree and/or Professional Engineer license.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Need industrial or commercial HVAC experience.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify stakeholders and plan objectives; align schedules and dependencies.
  • Monitor progress and risks; propose mitigation and de-risking strategies.
  • Measure program metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Apply best practices from other processes and technologies.
  • Organize ambiguous projects into longer-term objectives (6+ months).
  • Build program teams and support lifecycle needs across the organization.
  • Guide timeline alignment and deliverables of related projects.
  • Manage escalations and unblock obstacles.
  • Break down programs for junior execution.
  • Design and deliver optimized program communications for executives and partners.
  • Represent the program across touchpoints and governance structures.
  • Determine program phasing, KPIs, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Optimize checkpoints and metrics dashboards.
  • Ensure alignment on rationale for pivots; drive data-driven decisions.
  • Maintain trackers and status reports; manage dependencies across teams.
  • Lead change-management rollout plans; define program charters for scope, timelines, and risks.

What You’ll Do
  • Proactively identify stakeholders and work with them to strategize, plan, and prioritize objectives and success criteria. Estimate task durations, and ensure schedules and dependencies are aligned and support those objectives within an organization.
  • Effectively monitor and communicate progress and risks. Propose mitigation plans, and align stakeholders on de-risking strategies.
  • Measure and publish program and process metrics to drive consensus in teams’ understanding of issues and to drive decision-making.
  • Seek out and apply relevant best practices from other processes and technologies.
  • Organize ambiguous projects into clear longer-term (6+ months) objectives.
  • Build effective program teams within and across an organization. Understand and address their needs to support them throughout their life cycles.
  • Guide alignment on timelines, goals, and deliverables of related projects and teams.
  • Manage escalations and unblock obstacles.
  • Break down programs and processes into components that could be executed by less senior team members.
  • Independently design and deliver optimized program communication plans including executive and key partner communications.
  • Articulately represent the program across touchpoints.
  • Independently determine program phasing and metrics that effectively address continuous improvement including Resource Stewardship.
  • Optimize regular checkpoints and metrics dashboards.
  • Ensure stakeholders are aligned on rationale for program pivots.
  • Independently determine and collect data required to govern programs and effectively drive stakeholder decision-making.
  • Independently maintain project trackers and status reports.
  • Identify and execute program tasks, including proactively managing dependencies, while incorporating Product Excellence values, Product Inclusion, and brand trust and reputation.
  • Define program governance structure by determining effective management of mitigations, postmortems, and escalation reports.
  • Lead effective program stakeholder meetings.
  • Independently develop change management rollout plans for programs including impact analysis.
  • Across multiple teams, independently define, lead, and own program charter(s) that address scope, and timeline, OKRs, resourcing and risks/dependencies of moderately complex programs.
  • Translate ambiguous program goals into clear and measurable objectives/milestones.
  • Create project plans that break down a project into discrete phases aligned to the needs of stakeholders, include risks/dependencies, and support proactive identification of program constraints.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree and / or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Need industrial or commercial HVAC experience.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in evaporative and air based process chilled water cooling systems.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and related technical areas.
  • Knowledge of industry construction methods and techniques.
  • Ideally we would want someone who is familiar with mechanical cooling systems
  • Ideally we are looking for someone who has been in construction or operations of large commercial buildings high rise, data centers, semi conductor, industrial processes etc.
  • Possess advanced planning and communication management skills. Able to apply these skills in difficult situations.
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement, execution, organizational change, and stakeholder management. Able to apply these skills in typical situations with minimal guidance.

The minimum salary for this position is $165,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $195,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
