Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical Start-Up and Commissioning Specialist to join our team supporting the Data Center Industry. You will develop and execute start‑up and commissioning plans for mechanical and utility systems, including HVAC and cooling infrastructure, while coordinating with OEMs and construction teams to ensure safe, effective startup and commissioning processes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, 5+ years in data center

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent years of experience
• 5+ years of Start‑Up and Commissioning experience in the data center industry or mission‑critical facilities
• Understanding of data center mechanical systems and cooling requirements
• Flexibility and willingness to travel and work at various clients' locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop start-up and commissioning plans and execution strategies.
• Create system Start‑Up and Commissioning Plans for all mechanical systems.
• Generate and execute Start‑Up and Commissioning documents per industry best practices.
• Carry out startup of mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
• Facilitate meetings for the start-up team.
• Maintain action item lists and engineering change logs.
• Provide technical input and coordination with OEM service technicians.
• Coordinate with construction management as needed.
• Apply HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, CRAC/CRAH units, instrumentation and BMS knowledge to support clients.
