Job summary

CPG is seeking a Pre-Sales Mechanical Engineer for Data Center Mechanical Systems in Tempe, AZ. You will lead technical design, sales support, and project execution for mission-critical cooling systems, including chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, and related equipment, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The role combines technical proficiency with project leadership and client-facing engagement to ensure successful delivery and customer satisfaction; familiarity with ASHRAE

Qualifications

• 10+ years in mission-critical mechanical infrastructure and design.
• Extensive expertise in mission-critical mechanical systems and deployment.
• Strong understanding of data center facility operations.
• Familiar with ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines.
• Advanced technical writing skills for documentation, proposals, and specs.
• Proven ability to lead projects from concept through execution.
• Ability to communicate with all organizational levels, from ops to execs.
• Experience with major vendors (Vertiv, Stulz, York, Daikin) preferred.
• Prior experience managing large enterprise data center accounts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level guidance for design and implementation of mission-critical mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with internal sales and engineering teams to develop tailored solutions.
• Lead early-stage qualification, specification, and logistics planning for data center projects.
• Support estimating by reviewing project specs and coordinating with procurement.
• Develop system configurations and integration plans for performance and reliability.
• Act as liaison between clients and internal stakeholders, communicating complex concepts.
• Identify opportunities for cross-department collaboration to enhance services.
