Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc. in Dallas, TX seeks a Pre-Sales Engineer (Mechanical Engineer - Data Center Mechanical Systems) to design, specify, and implement mission-critical mechanical systems for data centers.

You will support sales, work with cross-functional teams, and interact directly with clients to ensure high-performance cooling solutions. The role requires extensive experience in data center mechanical design, strong communication, and proven project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mission-critical mechanical infrastructure and mechanical design.
• Extensive expertise in the design, specification, and deployment of mechanical systems for data centers.
• Strong understanding of data center facility operations and mechanical distribution systems.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines.
• Proven ability to lead projects from concept through execution, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels, including field operations and executive leadership.
• Experience with leading mechanical providers such as Vertiv, Stulz, York, and Daikin preferred.
• Prior experience managing large enterprise accounts within the data center industry preferred.
• Familiarity with commissioning procedures for mission-critical facilities preferred.
• Strong project management and business development skills.
• Advanced technical writing skills for documentation and proposals.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance on the design and implementation of mission-critical mechanical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, fan walls, and air handling units (AHUs).
• Collaborate with internal sales and engineering teams to develop customized solutions for clients’ data center needs.
• Lead early-stage project qualification, specification development, and logistics planning for data center mechanical systems.
• Support project estimating by reviewing specifications and coordinating with procurement teams.
• Develop comprehensive system configurations and integration plans to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Serve as a key liaison between clients and internal stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Identify opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration to enhance service offerings and support business growth.
• Contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and project specifications with advanced technical writing skills.
