Job summary

Rackspace seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as SME for data center mechanical systems in San Antonio, TX. You will lead cooling infrastructure design, oversight, and optimization to maintain uptime and support expansion of the data center footprint.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience supporting mission-critical data center environments.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Deep understanding of mission-critical cooling and thermal management.
Experience with ASHRAE guidelines and data center standards.
Proficient reading of construction drawings, P&IDs, and equipment diagrams.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical authority for mechanical infrastructure within the data center.
Provide engineering leadership for critical mechanical systems, including CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, pumps, humidification systems, RTUs, air handlers, and BMS/DCIM systems.
Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of thermal performance issues.
Develop and review mechanical designs, submittals, piping diagrams, airflow models, and infrastructure standards.
Support deployment, testing, commissioning, and turnover of mechanical projects.
