Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Engineer to design, implement, and manage mechanical systems for its data centers. You will collaborate with the Engineer of Record and cross-functional teams to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency while driving improvements.

You will be on site 5 days a week, with location options in Ridgeville, Saint George, Summerville, and nearby areas. You will mentor junior engineers and influence critical infrastructure decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and mechanical infrastructure.
• 3 years with HVAC, cooling, and water system engineering.
• 3 years in data center operations and working with contractors and cross-functional teams.
• 3 years with electro/mechanical assembly and documentation for mechanical designs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to data center services and operations teams, defining mechanical system design requirements for multiple data center projects from inception to completion.
• Develop, implement, and manage the mechanical designs at the site level, from basis of design through to construction documents for new builds, upgrades and renovations.
• Collaborate with Engineer of Record (EOR) to respond to site RFIs and ensure alignment with Google's requirements.
• Work with the core engineering team to develop site-specific Basis of Design requirements and coordinate system-level schematics with the EOR.
• Own and manage site-level mechanical/cooling system issues during project execution and maintain comprehensive documentation.
