Job summary

Google is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, construction, and operation of cutting-edge data centers in the United States. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical systems meet highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency.

You will participate in design reviews, provide on-site support to construction teams, and assist with commissioning to ensure performance targets are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in facility design, construction environments, and their mechanical infrastructure.
  • Strong collaboration with cross-functional project teams is expected.

  • Participate in project-specific design reviews at various stages, focusing on constructability and adherence to standards.
  • Provide on-site mechanical systems support to construction teams and contractors, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Support the commissioning of mechanical systems to meet performance requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems across data center construction and post-occupancy.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in facility design, construction environments, and their mechanical infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant fields, or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 5 years of experience with data center operations and working with mechanical contractors and cross-functional project teams.

Data Center Services (DCS) is accountable to safely deliver high-quality data center capacity and infrastructure solutions (including new builds & capital improvements) on time and within budget. We achieve this through a highly collaborative and transparent approach, leveraging our internal and external teams to support Google's mission of organizing the world's information.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $171000 - $248000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Participate in project-specific design reviews at various stages (30%, 60%, 95%), focusing on constructability, adherence to Google standards, and value engineering.
  • Provide on-site mechanical systems support to construction teams and contractors, ensuring work is executed with a focus on quality, speed, and adherence to Google's standards.
  • Support the commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet performance requirements and operational standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems, providing support to data center operations teams throughout construction and post-occupancy.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and vendors, fostering a collaborative and efficient project environment.
