Job summary

CBRE in Barker, NY is seeking a Data Center Technician to perform preventative and corrective maintenance in a live data center. The role covers mechanical and electrical systems, BMS alarms, and coordination with third-party vendors.

The position requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, on-site availability for day or night shifts, and the ability to follow established procedures. The minimum salary is $80,000 with a max of $95,000 plus discretionary bonus and standard CBRE benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in data center or facilities maintenance.
• Ability to work day and night shifts; on-site presence required.
• Capable of interpreting BMS alarms and performing corrective actions.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily site inspections of Mechanical & Engineering systems and equipment.
• Ensure environmental conditions support a safe work environment.
• Respond to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and ensure compliance with procedures and laws.
• Escalate subcontractor performance issues per the Master Service Agreement.
• Complete planned and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
• Check BMS for running/alarm conditions and address HVAC problems.
• Perform building walkthroughs and take meter readings from UPS, PDUs and utilities.
• Provide fixes to facility and plant faults; maintain quality records.
• Complete required training; follow defined procedures with supervision.
