Job summary

System One in Bellevue, WA is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer (Contract) to support enterprise infrastructure across private data centers and regional facilities. This hands-on role focuses on compute, storage, virtualization, and power, working with networking, cloud, and facilities teams to ensure secure, reliable IT operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
• 6+ years in enterprise infrastructure or data center engineering.
• Strong VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter experience.
• Experience with HPE server hardware.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel and NFS.
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery.
• Hands-on APC UPS systems and enterprise power infra.
• Rack installation, cabling, and data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain data center infrastructure including rack management and cabling.
• Support multiple MDF/IDF locations across regional facilities.
• Perform routine site inspections for reliability and readiness.
• Coordinate power, cooling, and environmental requirements with facilities.
• Administer UPS systems, PDUs, and monitor power health.
• Maintain infrastructure diagrams, load maps, and runbooks.
• Deploy and manage VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter environments.
• Manage server lifecycle: install, firmware updates, maintenance, decommissioning.
• Troubleshoot server hardware including CPUs, memory, NICs, storage.
• Coordinate hardware support with vendors and warranty repairs.
• Administer SAN/NAS storage and replication, backups, and DR processes.
• Participate in change management and maintenance windows.
• Support on-call rotation for critical infrastructure.
