Job summary

Corning Inc. seeks a Commercial Technology Specialist within the Data Center Business Unit to drive new innovations in optical solutions. You will engage customers to identify pain points, define network requirements, and translate needs into Corning cabling solutions.

You will collaborate with PLM, marketing, and Solutions Innovation to shape prototypes, IPP requests, and field validation. Your role emphasizes VOC-driven opportunity sizing, cross-functional teamwork, and supporting

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, and sales) to drive innovation projects.
• At least 2+ years in Data Center Cabling infrastructure; familiarity with hyperscale data center market and complex business models.
• Knowledge of basic fiber optic theory, products, and installation methods; ability to interface with Corning products.

Responsibilities

• Frequent engagement with customers from assigned accounts to identify inflection points in network design and specify ISP/OSP requirements.
• Collaborate with sales and customers to drive adoption of new solutions; support field trials and customer qualification processes.
• Ensure cross-division collaboration during discovery, ideation, and solution selection (Solutions Innovation, PLM, COC Technology, S&T).
• Work with Solutions Innovation to engage customers with innovation ideas beyond current planning horizons.
• Develop understanding of new opportunities for Corning Optical Communications within the DCBU; VOC-driven needs analysis.
• Support commercialization and rollout planning with marketing and PLM; participate in early product marketing strategy meetings.
