Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Field Technician to provide onsite technical support and installation services at customer locations. This role is responsible for deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining data center and IT infrastructure, including servers, network equipment, operating systems, and connectivity solutions. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, technically proficient, and comfortable working in data center environments and remote customer sites. This is a remote, field-based position requiring up to 50% travel to customer sites, data centers, and project locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rack-and-stack installations, cabling, labeling, and deployment of servers, storage, network, and data center equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues in data center and enterprise environments.
• Provide onsite field support for equipment failures, break-fix activities, component replacements, and system upgrades.
• Deliver installation and configuration services for network connectivity solutions, including switches, routers, and structured cabling.
• Respond to customer support requests through a ticket-based service management system and provide timely resolution updates.
• Document all work performed, including installation records, service reports, and troubleshooting activities.
• Coordinate with customers, project managers, vendors, and internal technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Adhere to data center safety procedures, customer site requirements, and company standards.
• Maintain technical certifications and complete required training programs to stay current with industry technologies and best practices.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, after-hours support, and emergency response activities as required.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in data center operations, field services, desktop support, or infrastructure support.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
• Experience with structured cabling, network connectivity, and hardware deployment.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and customer support processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites, data centers, and project locations.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kg).

Nice to Have

• CompTIA A+, Network+, or Server+ certification.
• Microsoft, Cisco, Dell, HP, Lenovo, or other infrastructure-related certifications.
• Experience working in enterprise data centers, colocation facilities, or managed services environments.
• Basic understanding of networking protocols, IP addressing, and connectivity troubleshooting.

Compensation

The compensation for this role starts at 80,000 annually.
