Job summary

Computacenter is seeking a Field Engineering Practice Manager to lead our Data Center technical leadership organization in North America. You will manage Project Engineers and Implementation Specialists, set standards, and ensure readiness to support complex deployments across multiple sites. 15–20% travel is anticipated.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years in field engineering or infrastructure delivery for data centers.
• Experience leading senior technical teams and onsite leaders.
• Strong understanding of rack systems, cabling, testing, and acceptance criteria.
• Proven ability to develop training, career plans, and succession strategies.
• Experience with workforce planning, capacity, and partner delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Project Engineers and Implementation Specialists within the Data Center practice.
• Set expectations for leadership, execution quality, utilization and development.
• Maintain visibility of skills, certifications, readiness, and location of team members.
• Create training, mentoring, and succession plans to deepen leadership depth.
• Forecast capability gaps and coordinate hiring, contractors, or cross-training.
• Establish repeatable field execution standards and documentation requirements.
• Monitor escalations, defects, and partner performance; drive corrective actions.
• Support onboarding and evaluation of delivery partners; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Assist major programs by validating leadership and workforce models.
