Job summary

Pkaza LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Data Center Facility Manager to support a critical data center in Sweetwater, TX. You will oversee operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, manage PM programs, coordinate subcontractors, and maintain client relationships to ensure uptime.

This role requires a Bachelor's or Associate degree in engineering or facilities management, 4–7+ years of data center experience, and strong leadership, safety, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field, or equivalent military / trade experience.
  • 4-7+ years of data center / critical facility operations and maintenance experience in hyperscale environments; crypto / HPC data centers are a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising or managing a technical staff (Critical facilities technicians).
  • OSHA certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with operating and managing preventive maintenance programs on critical systems (switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, CRAH/CRAH units, BMS/PMS).
  • Oversee scheduling and execution of PMs; track completion in CMMS.
  • Supervise on-site management of subcontractors and vendors per procedures and change control.
  • Review scopes of work, permits to work, and MOP/EOP/SOP execution.
  • Maintain local client relationships and act as site point of contact.
  • Prepare reports and analyses on facility operations, uptime, and KPI metrics.

Assistant Data Center Facility Manager - Sweetwater, TX

This opportunity is working directly with a leading mission-critical data center developer / wholesale provider. This company provides turnkey data center solutions for High Performance Computing (HPC) / Hyperscale environment to custom-fit to the requirements of their client's ever-changing mission-critical facilities operational needs. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Data Center Facility Manager to support a critical data center. The Assistant Data Center Facility Manager / Assistant Chief will be responsible for managing the operation and maintenance of the critical facility physical infrastructure systems in accordance with company's policies and procedures. This candidate will support the Data Center Manager as well as the Director of Facility Operations. The Assistant Data Center Facility Manager will assist in managing Mechanical and Electrical Technicians and help manage the local relationship with the customer. The Assistant Chief will act as a shift leader, ensuring uptime commitments (SLA/PUE targets) are met, critical infrastructure are properly maintained to Industry / OEM standards, and that the Data Center, which is a 7x24x365 a year operation, follows OSHA and EHS compliances.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with Operating and Managing both routine - preventative maintenance as well as emergency service on a variety of state of the art critical systems such as: medium voltage switchgear, transformers, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers / cooling plants, computer room air handlers / CRAHs, fire detection / suppression; building monitoring systems; etc.
  • Oversee execution of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual preventive maintenance (PM) programs across switchgear, transformers, breakers, generators, UPS, PDUs, CRAH units, and BMS/PMS systems; track completion in the CMMS
  • Supervise / Schedule the on-site management of sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work is performed according to established practices and procedures,within specified change control / management protocols
  • Review scopes of work, permits to work, and method of procedure (MOP) / standard operating procedure (SOP) execution
  • Enforce Method of Procedure (MOP), Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP), and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) discipline; participate in MOP/EOP review and risk assessments
  • Manage local client relationship and act as a point of contact for the company at this site when needed
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance
  • Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency
  • Support / follow facility budgets, identify opportunities to reduce downtime risk
  • Maintain accurate logs, single-line diagrams, and equipment records
  • Provide regular reporting on KPIs (uptime, PM compliance, safety metrics) to management
  • Maintain a constant state of readiness in support of the mission goal of 99.999% uptime
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's / Associates degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field, or equivalent military / trade experience
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or relevant OEM certifications (generators, switchgear, UPS)
  • CFM, CDCP, CDCS, or similar facilities / data center industry certifications a plus
  • OSHA certification a plus
  • 4-7 + years of data center / critical facility operations and maintenance experience in a hyperscale, colocation, or crypto / HPC data center environment
  • 2+ year of experience supervising or managing a technical staff (Critical facilities technicians)
  • Solid Understanding of Critical Electrical Power Distribution and Mechanical / HVAC systems (UPS, Generators, Switchgears, Transformers, Breakers, PDUs, CRAC / CRAH Units, Chillers, etc.)
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, CMMS platforms, and EPMS/BMS software platforms
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety codes (NFPA 70E, NEC, local AHJ requirements)
  • Familiarity with MOP/EOP/SOP-driven operations and change management in a live, always-on environment
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and equipment manuals
  • Experience supporting substation, generation, or utility-interconnected infrastructure
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to after-hours emergencies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; Good presentation skills
  • Superior analytical, planning and problem resolution skills
  • Highly organized with proved project management abilities; self motivated
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented with solidtime-management skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Clear, calm communication under pressure, including during outages or emergencies
  • Ability to coach and develop critical facilities team to build bench strength on the team
