Job summary

Salute is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician Lead (Technical Shift Lead) in New Albany, OH to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and performance of critical data center infrastructure. This role leads the technical team, coordinates across shifts and vendors, and serves as escalation point for complex issues and customer requests.

Qualifications

• 5 years of data center experience in operations and maintenance of critical facilities.
• Leadership or management experience in data center and/or critical facilities environment.
• Knowledge of critical infrastructure including MV switchboards, Transformers, Generators, ATS/STS, UPS, PDUs, RPPs.
• Ability to read and assess single line diagrams, technical manuals and engineering plans.
• Experience carrying out MOP/EOP/SOP.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper maintenance of critical data center equipment such as UPS, HVAC systems, backup power generators, and physical security systems.
• Identify, report and resolve technical issues identified within the data center, hardware or software.
• Monitor data center performance, including power consumption and ambient temperature.
• Keep technical documentation up-to-date, including user manuals, cabling diagrams, and maintenance records.
• Monitor ticket queues and respond within required SLA times.
• Stay abreast of latest technological trends and update the data center to ensure optimal operation.
• Perform all tasks of Data Center Shift Technician, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Lead and train the data center technical team, ensuring skills for tasks.
• Plan and schedule technical work to meet deadlines and efficiency.
• Communicate with team, vendors and customers to provide status updates through work orders.
• Manage data center resources and personnel to meet objectives.
• Supervise vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance and security standards.
• Continuously evaluate the data center for opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Provide leadership to lower-level staff through challenges.

Data Center Facilities Technician Lead (Technical Shift Lead) oversees the day ‑ to ‑ day operation, maintenance, and performance of all critical data center infrastructure to ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance. This role leads and develops the technical team, coordinates work across shifts and vendors, and acts as an escalation point for complex technical issues and customer requests. The Lead will support the local site team on multiple daily (technical) duties in the datacenter and office. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.

This position is located in New Albany, OH

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure proper maintenance of critical data center equipment such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), HVAC systems, backup power generators, and physical security systems.
• Identify, report and resolve technical issues identified within the Data Center categorized as whether related to hardware or software systems.
• Monitor and evaluate data center performance, including power consumption, ambient temperature and other critical factors affecting data center operation.
• Keep technical documentation of the data center up-to-date and accessible to include user manuals, cabling diagrams, and maintenance records.
• Monitor Ticket queues and ensure all customer tickets and respond to within required SLA times.
• Stay abreast of latest technological trends and be prepared to update and upgrade the data center to ensure optimal operation.
• Perform all tasks of Data Center Shift Technician, including critical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and data center performance oversight.
• Lead and train the data center technical team, ensuring all members possess necessary skills and experience to perform tasks efficiently.
• Plan and schedule technical work, ensuring deadlines are met and the team operates in an efficient manner.
• Communicate effectively with team members, vendors and end customers to receive and provide status updates to ensure all stakeholders are informed through completion of Work Order Request.
• Manage data center resources and personnel to effectively meet data center objectives.
• Supervise vendors and contractors working in the data center, ensuring compliance and security standards.
• Continuously evaluate the data center for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
• Provide leadership and guidance to lower-level staff through technical challenges while maintaining a positive and productive work environment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years of data center experience, operations, and maintenance of critical facilities.
• Leadership, supervisory, or management experience in data center and/or critical facilities environment.
• Knowledge of critical infrastructure - to include MV switchboards, Transformers, Generators, ATS/STS, UPS, PDUs, RPPs.
• Ability to read and assess single line diagrams, technical manuals and engineering plans.
• Experience carrying out MOP/EOP/SOP.
• Strong communications, both written and verbal, coordinating with local and regional teams.
