Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Data Center Engineering Technician to join AWS Infrastructure Services in Sterling, VA. This role supports mission-critical facilities, including standby generators and three-phase electrical systems, with a focus on maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety compliance.

You will participate in hands-on electrical and mechanical PM, incident response, and documentation, while collaborating across teams to keep data centers running with high reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance experience
• 2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
• Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment for 24/7 reliability
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLAs
• PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
• Technical writing to support change management program
• Monitor daily work requests and drive to resolution, execute projects from conception to completion
• On-site support of contractors and vendors ensuring work complies with practices and local regulations
• Work schedule changes up to 12 hours shifts, possible on-call rotations
