Job summary

Big-D Mission Critical is seeking an Electrical Superintendent to oversee energy isolation and energization activities on data center projects. The role includes planning, coordination, control, and documentation of energized work with a focus on safety and minimal impact to live data halls.

The position can be based in Salt Lake City, UT or involve travel. Candidates should have extensive experience with live electrical systems, MV systems, and data center energization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience working with live electrical systems.
• Experience authorizing or supervising energized work.
• Experience with medium-voltage systems.
• Data center energization experience preferred.
• Substation systems experience preferred.
• Power generation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Authorize and supervise energized work execution.
• Verify readiness of SOPs and MOPs.
• Enforce procedures during live work.
• Ensure zero-energy state prior to work execution.
• Maintain switching logs and isolation tracking.
• Lead energization sequencing and generator startup.
• Coordinate with utility providers and owner operations teams.
• Review and approve MOPs and Energized Work Permits.
• Collaborate with Commissioning Authority on energization boundaries.
• Lead energy hazard pre-task planning discussions.
• Track real-time energized system status and report to leadership.
• Document all energy-related incidents or near misses.
