Job description

Job Description: Position Summary

The Facilities team designs, operates, and maintains sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems within DartPoints data centers in a 24/7 mission-critical environment across multiple facilities. Facilities Engineers at DartPoints operate, monitor, and support physical facilities conditions. Responsibilities include climate control, power supply, generators, UPS and flywheel systems, electrical distribution and control, physical security, and monitoring systems. Engineers regularly inspect, maintain, and repair various data center electrical or mechanical systems, both critical and non-critical. They assist Operations team members as needed to provision and de-provision services for internal and external clients.

Engineers ensure environmental and safety standards are met, identify problems, and make repairs promptly. They manage data center performance issues and outages during emergencies or abnormal conditions to minimize recovery time.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Areas include: Electrical, Mechanical, General Facilities, Building Monitoring and Control
  2. Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in DartPoints’ 24/7 data center facilities
  3. Maintain, repair, and replace building systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting) as needed
  4. Maintain and repair building interior and exterior areas (office space, common space, lighting, landscape, parking lot)
  5. Document, track, and analyze operational data
  6. Coordinate with trades and contractors for maintenance activities
  7. Install electrical branch feeders and circuits per NEC standards
  8. Install network infrastructure cabling, fiber optics, and Category 6 cables
  9. Occasional day travel; infrequent overnight travel
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree, trade certification, or equivalent technical training or experience
  • Minimum 5 years in mechanical/HVAC and electrical fields; at least 2 years in a critical environment
  • Professional licensing in Mechanical or Electrical fields
  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing equipment
  • Respond promptly to service requests and changes
  • Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs., work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors
Additional Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, PDU, HVAC units, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems
  • Effective communication with contractors and team members
  • Quick learner and responsive during normal hours or on-call
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

This position may require shift work, including weekends and holidays.
