Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a Union Lead Engineer in Cedar Rapids to oversee daily operations and maintenance of building systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

You will guide and support your team, manage projects, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve operational excellence. Role includes supervising engineering staff, coordinating preventative maintenance, and ensuring systems meet design specifications, with cross-disciplinary collaboration and leadership

Qualifications

• Local Electrical License required.
• 4–5 years of related work experience; diploma may be substituted by experience.
• Supervisory or shift-management experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and math skills; proficient with MS Office.
• Ability to lift heavy loads and meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect the work of engineering staff to ensure completion and functionality.
• Review monthly service summaries to identify recurring issues.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for building systems.
• Inspect building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure operations meet design specs.
• Estimate time and materials for repairs; manage inventory and procure supplies.
• Assist team with complex repairs, emergencies, and preventive maintenance.
• Lead by example and mentor team across multiple disciplines.
