Job summary

Interstates is seeking an Electrical Estimator II to transform drawings and project goals into clear, competitive estimates for data center telecom and fiber projects. You’ll work with clients, vendors, engineers, project managers, and field teams from bid through handoff, shaping strategy and addressing risk early.

You will review bid documents, analyze costs, and leverage Interstates’ tools to deliver accurate estimates that support successful project execution.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years electrical estimating experience or related electrical construction work (telecom, fiber, data center)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; collaborative, team-oriented approach
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take ownership
• Preferred experience estimating or supporting data center, telecom, fiber, or structured cabling projects
• Experience with Accubid Anywhere; familiarity with electrical construction methods and project delivery
• Proficiency with Excel, Office, and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience supporting change orders, contract reviews, or project handoffs

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate, competitive estimates using Interstates’ tools and systems
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements to define scope and pricing
• Estimate work related to data center telecom, fiber, structured cabling, pathways, and related infrastructure
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs
• Use historical cost data, labor units, and production information to improve estimate accuracy
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and value opportunities
• Document assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and decisions throughout the bid process
• Partner with clients, vendors, engineers, project managers, and field teams to develop practical project solutions
• Support proposal development, bid strategy, and client presentations
• Assist with contract reviews, negotiations, and project handoff to execution teams
• Support change orders and cost-to-complete estimates on active projects
• Share lessons learned and contribute to more consistent estimating methods and standards
