Job Description
Data Center Construction Quality Assurance Manager (QA) will act as Owner’s Representative for mission-critical data center projects. QA will work alongside owner, project managers, project engineers, general contractors, trade partners, equipment vendors, design and engineering consultants, and commissioning agents to ensure that all installed products meet or exceed the intent of the contract documents and industry standards for mission-critical construction.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain project-specific Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Plan, including preparatory meetings, first-of-a-kind inspections, corrective actions, and final inspections.
- Thoroughly understand all project documentation such as drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, equipment data sheets, and MSDS.
- Perform regular inspections on all installed products to verify compliance with contract documents.
- Report quality deficiencies to the General Contractor and trade partners using the project’s software platform.
- Address all quality issues through corrective actions and root cause analyses when necessary.
- Audit system installations to ensure conformity to BIM models.
- Collaborate on site logistics and material staging to improve efficiency.
- Lead weekly quality control meetings.
- Provide daily and weekly quality reports to the Owner.
- Verify materials and equipment deliveries conform to approved submittals and are stored safely.
- Maintain logs of inspections by authorities; rectify all failed inspections.
- Participate in fostering a strong safety culture.
- Act as liaison during commissioning phases.
- Track design changes and update as-built documentation and BIM files accordingly.
- Support project billing processes by verifying work progress.
- Promote open communication, transparency, and mutual respect among stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in quality assurance/control in data centers or similar projects.
- OSHA 30; First Aid/CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
- CDCP and LEED AP certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of local and building codes (NFPA, NEC, IBC, etc.).
- Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, BlueBeam Revu, Autodesk Cloud).
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
