Job summary

The Fountain Group in Richmond, VA seeks a Component Engineer – Mechanical and Engineering Parts to support UPS, PDU, and STS components for data center applications. You will assess quality, reliability, and production readiness through testing and collaboration with suppliers and engineering teams.

The role requires 3+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, plus a strong grasp of sheet metal, copper, plastic, and aluminum manufacturing processes. SAP/Windchill PLM familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes for sheet metal, copper, plastic, and aluminum.
• Ability to review designs with suppliers to improve manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Assess component quality, reliability, and compatibility through testing and analysis.
• Estimate manufacturing costs for mechanical components and evaluate supplier capabilities.
• Develop guidelines for component selection and qualification.
• Maintain component data management systems, including qualification records and test results.
• Collaborate with business and quality teams to ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery requirements.
• Resolve component manufacturing issues and identify potential alternative suppliers.
• Lead Make vs. Buy analyses and support outside processing management when outsourcing is appropriate.
• Ensure components and engineering activities meet applicable technical specifications and safety/regulatory policies.
