Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager in New York to serve as the on-the-ground presence for data center activities. This remote-friendly role will connect Policy and Infrastructure teams with local officials, organizations, and residents, surfacing concerns and translating technical plans into local benefits.

You will travel across New York State up to 50% and help write scalable playbooks as Anthropic expands its infrastructure footprint.

Qualifications

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or state government, or a closely related field.
• Direct experience working for or engaging with local governments and a broad set of community stakeholders on behalf of large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects.
• A skilled relationship and coalition builder who earns trust with a diverse group of stakeholders, and maintains relationships through difficult conversations.
• The ability to represent a company credibly in public settings, including town halls, hearings, and press interviews.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including turning complex operational plans into plain language for locals or reporters.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with officials, administrators, economic development partners, and community groups in NY data center markets.
• Develop and execute a community engagement strategy across markets, including site selection, pre-development, construction, and operations.
• Build external coalitions, host listening sessions, and design local solutions delivering real benefits.
• Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and media.
• Advise internal teams on risks, opportunities, and engagement pacing based on local sentiment.
