Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Commissioning Lead to own the final mile of data center commissioning from energization to owner handoff. You will coordinate across MEP, electrical, and controls teams on complex facilities, ensuring systems perform under load and meet owner requirements.

You will drive the commissioning schedule, manage vendors, and sign off on critical infrastructure delivering reliable AI-ready spaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commissioning, with 3+ years leading Cx on mission-critical, data center, or large-scale industrial construction projects.
• Hands-on experience commissioning MEP and electrical systems including generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling infrastructure (CRAH/CRAC, chillers, cooling towers), and BMS/controls.
• Proven ability to develop and execute commissioning plans, FPT scripts, and IST procedures from scratch.
• Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation (OPR, BOD).
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and vendors in active construction environments.
• Ability to read single-line diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and control sequences.
• Direct experience commissioning hyperscale or colocation data center facilities.
• Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), BCxA or equivalent certification.
• Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or commissioning platforms (Cx Alloy, FACTSuite).
• Experience with accelerated schedules or in high-growth startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead all commissioning activities on assigned data center projects from pre-functional through IST and final owner acceptance.
• Develop, own, and drive the commissioning schedule coordinating with construction and PM teams.
• Oversee and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners during startup, testing, and performance verification.
• Write, review, and execute commissioning plans, test procedures, FPTs, and IST scripts aligned with OPR/BOD.
• Document deficiencies, track resolution to closure, and maintain the Cx record package for handoff.
• Serve as primary field contact for RFIs, submittals, and technical issues with design and project teams.
• Conduct pre-functional inspections and verify installation compliance before system startups.
• Manage punch lists and turnover through to occupancy and final acceptance.
