Job summary
Actalent in Abilene, TX seeks a Commissioning Engineer/Technician to lead commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of basebuild utility and control systems for data center and advanced tech projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align construction and commissioning schedules and support control system implementations.
The role involves programming and configuring PLCs, validating I/O, interpreting P&IDs, and delivering clear technical reports.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years in commissioning/construction for instrumentation and controls or electrical basebuild systems in advanced tech.
- Minimum 3 years experience with control systems in data center or similar environments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate schedules and manpower forecasts for technicians.
- Manage commissioning constraints affecting schedules and basebuild utilities.
- Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning activities.
- Provide reports on schedule adherence and quality metrics.
- Conduct system walk-downs to verify installation readiness.
- Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Train suppliers in commissioning software and manage access.
- Interface with design teams, construction partners, and client reps.
- Program, configure, and commission control systems including PLCs.
