Job summary

66degrees is seeking a Data Architect to guide customers migrating to Google Cloud. You will translate business requirements into scalable database solutions, design architectures on Google Cloud, and lead migrations of databases, data, and pipelines.

The role requires strong SQL, experience with Cloud Spanner or similar, and cloud architecture expertise. Collaboration with client teams and technology leadership is essential to deliver cost-effective, high-performance data platforms.

Qualifications

• 5 years of overall database management and IT experience.
• 2+ years of Google Cloud experience.
• Experience migrating and/or implementing cloud-native databases like Spanner.
• Experience in performance testing and remediation of performance issues.
• Experience in migrating databases like MySQL, Postgres, and Oracle to Cloud SQL.
• Experience defining the technical architecture on Google Cloud.
• Experience designing data models in Spanner.
• Google Cloud Professional Architect and/or Data Engineer Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate client discussions toward an effective architectural pattern and act as interface between business leadership, technology leadership, and delivery teams.
• Design solution architecture on Google Cloud.
• Design a migration path covering database objects, data, data pipelines, orchestration, users and security.
• Perform migration activities including translation of DDL, stored procedures, and queries.
• Execute data transfers using Google Cloud native and 3rd party tools.
• Set up and configure relevant Google Cloud components.
• Engage with customer teams to provide education workshops, architectural recommendations, and technology reviews.

Overview of Role

As a Data Architect with 66degrees, you are responsible for assisting customers in their journey to Google Cloud through the design and implementation of a migration strategy. The Data Architect should be comfortable translating business and technical requirements into scalable and cost-effective database solutions.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate, guide, and influence the client and teams towards an effective architectural pattern and becoming an interface between business leadership, technology leadership and the delivery teams.
• Designing of solution architecture on Google Cloud
• Design a migration path that accounts for the conversion of :
• Database objects
• Data
• Data Pipelines
• Orchestration
• Users and Security
• Perform migration activities including:
• Translation of DDL, Stored Procedures, and Queries
• Executing data transfers using native Google Cloud and 3rd party tools
• Setup and configuration of relative Google Cloud components
• Engage with customer teams as a Google Cloud expert to provide:
• Education Workshops
• Architectural Recommendations
• Technology reviews and recommendations

Qualifications

• 5 years of overall database management and IT experience.
• 2+ years of Google Cloud experience
• Proven experience in migrating and or implementing cloud native databases like Spanner
• Proven experience in performing performance testing and applying remediations to address performance issues.
• Proven experience in migration databases like mySQL, Postgres, and Oracle to Cloud SQL
• Experience in defining the technical architecture on Google Cloud
• Experience in designing data models in Spanner
• Experience with CockroachDB is a nice to have
• Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write, tune, and interpret SQL queries; tool specific experience in the database platforms listed above is ideal.
• Google Cloud Professional Architect and or Data Engineer Certification is preferred
