Synechron seeks a senior Data Architect / Solution Architect to lead the target‑state architecture for a Home Lending data transformation. You will shape enterprise data models, drive cloud modernization, and establish governance standards across regulatory reporting and data platforms.

The role requires deep Banking/Financial Services expertise, mortgage domain knowledge, and hands‑on work with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, and modern data pipelines.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect / Solution Architect to lead the target‑state architecture, enterprise data model strategy, cloud modernization, governance standards, and technical direction for a large‑scale Home Lending data transformation initiative.

This role will be responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of enterprise‑grade data platforms, modern integration patterns, regulatory‑compliant reporting environments, and scalable cloud‑native architectures. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Banking / Financial Services, strong Home Lending and Mortgage domain knowledge, and proven success modernizing legacy data ecosystems into strategic cloud platforms.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $135k - $145k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Own and define the target‑state architecture for the Home Lending data platform.
• Develop and drive the enterprise data model strategy for Home Lending domains.
• Lead architecture for cloud modernization programs, including migration from legacy and non‑strategic platforms.
• Design scalable, secure, and high‑performing data, integration, and analytics architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Define BigQuery‑based data architecture, data lake/lakehouse patterns, and modern ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Establish architecture standards for batch, CDC, event‑driven, and streaming integration patterns.
• Create frameworks for metadata management, data lineage, data cataloging, and data governance.
• Ensure solutions support FR Y-14M reporting, regulatory traceability, auditability, reconciliation, and data quality controls.
• Partner with business, data engineering, reporting, governance, and operational teams to align architecture with business and regulatory requirements.
• Produce architecture artifacts including technical design documents, standards, governance materials, and knowledge transfer documentation.
• Guide legacy rationalization efforts across platforms such as Ab Initio, SAS, Teradata, and legacy data warehouses.
• Provide technical leadership and governance oversight across architecture, delivery, and operational teams.

Requirements:

• Experience inData Architecture, Integration Architecture, or Solution Architecture.
• Proven experience leading cloud modernization and migration programs.
• Experience working within large Banking or Financial Services organizations.
• Experience supporting FR Y-14M reporting environments.
• Strong hands‑on architecture and design experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer.
• Strong knowledge of Python, PySpark, SQL, Spark, Data Warehousing, Data Lake Architecture, ETL/ELT Modernization.
• Experience designing and implementing Batch Processing, CDC (Change Data Capture), Event-Driven Architecture, Streaming Data Pipelines, REST APIs
• Experience with: Ab Initio, SAS, Teradata, Legacy Data Warehouse Platforms
• Strong experience in Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Catalog, Data Quality Frameworks, Source-to-Target Mapping, Data Governance
• Strong understanding of Mortgage Origination, Mortgage Servicing, Loan Performance, Customer Data, Account Data, Property Data, Collateral Data, Delinquency Management, Default and Collections Processes.
• Strong understanding of FR Y-14M Reporting, Regulatory Data Traceability, Regulatory Data Controls, Data Quality Standards, Reconciliation Frameworks, Audit Readiness Requirements.

Preferred, but not required:

• TOGAF Certification
• Google Cloud Professional Architect Certification
• Experience implementing enterprise data mesh or lakehouse architectures
• Experience supporting large-scale Home Lending transformation initiatives
• Experience implementing metadata and lineage solutions
