Job Title: Data Architect

Job Type: FTE

Work Schedule: Remote

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a senior data architect to lead the strategy, design, and implementation of unified data architecture across parent enterprise (our client) and its acquired entities. This role requires a mix of hands-on engineering skills, architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams. You'll be working directly with Enterprise Architecture, data engineering, and business stakeholders to drive integration, governance, migration, and data strategy forward.

Key Responsibilities

· Assess current-state data architectures, integration points, and dependencies across the parent enterprise and it acquired companies

· Design and lead the implementation of a target-state enterprise data architecture that supports analytics, reporting, governance, and future scalability

· Define and standardize data domains, data models, and canonical structures across diverse business units

· Lead data integration and migration efforts, including mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation of data from legacy systems

· Develop strategies for merging structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from various platforms and tools

· Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to align data initiatives with business capability models and overall transformation roadmaps

· Define and implement data governance frameworks, stewardship models, and ownership accountability across data domains

· Evaluate, select, and implement data technologies including Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Purview, and others

· Guide Master Data Management (MDM), metadata management, data cataloging, and lineage tracking efforts

· Ensure the data architecture meets standards for scalability, security, performance, and regulatory compliance

· Build documentation, reference models, and operational playbooks to support adoption, onboarding, and long-term maintenance

· Serve as a strategic partner during ongoing post-merger data integration and system consolidation efforts

Required Skills & Experience

· 8+ years in data architecture or enterprise data engineering roles

· Proven experience architecting enterprise-level data platforms in hybrid or multi-company environments

· Strong expertise in data modeling, normalization, and design across OLTP and OLAP systems

· Familiarity with NoSQL systems and designing for hybrid architectures (structured/unstructured)

· Hands-on experience with Azure data stack, including Synapse, ADF, Data Lake, and Purview

· Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and modern cloud-native data ecosystems

· Working knowledge of data governance, lineage tools, and MDM frameworks

· Strong understanding of data integration patterns, data quality, and metadata

· Comfortable working with business and technical stakeholders to align data with strategy

· Experience collaborating with Enterprise Architecture or familiarity with capability-based planning is a plus

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in M&A environments, especially post-acquisition integration

· Knowledge of data mesh, lakehouse architectures, and semantic layers

· Familiarity with business capability mapping and aligning architecture to business outcomes

· Certifications in Azure, Snowflake, or enterprise architecture tools are a plus

Exposure to EA frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) or working in EA-led environments
