What is the opportunity?
Under the direction of the IT Director of DevOps, the Data Architect will have the opportunity to support Water Mission departments in efficient data access, production of data visualizations, and support of related tools. We seek a Data Architect who is passionate about designing scalable data solutions and eager to leverage modern tools to drive strategic decision-making and operational excellence. This is a full-time position remote position located in the U.S.
A successful Data Architect will:
- Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, donors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
- Alignment with Water Mission's Statement of Faith and Core Values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
- Partner with external service providers in the design and development of a cloud-based data warehouse environment using platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Fabric.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into robust data models and architectures.
- Establish best practices for data warehousing, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Develop, implement, and optimize ETL processes to efficiently ingest, transform, and load data from various internal and external sources.
- Maintain data integration workflows, ensuring data consistency and accuracy across systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced reports, visualizations, and dashboards using Power BI to support operational insights and strategic decision-making.
- Work closely with end users to develop interactive visualizations and custom data analyses.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, data flows, and transformation processes.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for continuous improvement and optimization of our data infrastructure.
- Support the IT department in establishing data governance practices, ensuring compliance with data privacy and security standards.

- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or equivalent experience/certifications.
- Experience in data architecture, data analytics, database administration, or a related role.
- Expertise in building and maintaining databases or data warehouses using Microsoft tools such as Azure, Fabric, or related platforms.
- Proven skills in designing and managing ETL pipelines to ensure efficient data integration.
- Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation, querying, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated experience with Power BI, including developing complex reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
- Proven analytic skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization.
- Committed to maintaining a high degree of integrity in all business activities and decisions.
- Strong technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries and reports.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail. This position involves detailed analyses of data requiring focused attention to detail for extended periods of time.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities is required.
