Job summary

Suvi Global Services, an Akima company, is seeking a Data Architect to design and govern a data foundation powering analytics, reporting, and product decisions across government contracts. Hybrid role with ~50% on-site work; must be within commutable distance to Herndon, VA.

You will define data models, storage standards, and governance, partnering with engineering and analytics teams to deliver scalable, secure systems while ensuring compliance with government contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, database design, or data architecture, with at least 3 years in an architect role.
• Proven experience designing enterprise data platforms at petabyte scale with 1 PB+ storage across warehouse, lake, or lakehouse environments.
• Demonstrated ability to design for high complexity with 20+ data sources/streams and 500+ entities/tables.
• Deep expertise in data modeling (dimensional, relational, NoSQL).
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Informatica.
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, and master data management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.

About this role

Suvi Global Services is looking for a talented Data Architect to design and govern the data foundation that powers analytics, reporting and product decision across multiple government contracts. This position will define how data is modeled, stored, integrated, and secured, and partner closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams to turn strategy into scalable, reliable systems. This role also supports various projects as required.

This is a hybrid role with approximately 50% on-site work. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Define standards for data integration, pipelines, storage, and metadata across cloud and on-prem systems.
• Lead the design of data warehouses, data lakes, or lake house platforms that support BI, analytics, and ML use cases.
• Establish data governance practices covering quality, lineage, security, privacy, and access controls.

• Active TS/SCI Required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, database design, or data architecture, with at least 3 years in an architect role.
• Proven experience on enterprise architecting data platforms at petabyte scale, with at least 1 PB of managed storage across warehouse, lake, or Lakehouse environments.
• Demonstrated ability to design for high complexity, including integration of 20+ data sources/streams and data models spanning 500+ entities or tables.
• Deep expertise in data modeling (dimensional, relational, and NoSQL approaches)
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform.
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Informatica.
• Solid understanding of data governance, security, and master data management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis.
• Exposure to supporting ML/AI workloads and feature stores.
• Certification in AWS Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer or CDMP.
