A leading company is seeking a Data Analytics Specialist/Data Scientist to support the design and development of analytical data products. The successful candidate will leverage data assets to enhance decision-making and service delivery across government departments. This role requires diverse analytical skills and experience in data science, modeling, and statistical analysis. The position is primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings.
The Data and Content Management Division adopts a one-government approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making, and service delivery across the Government of Alberta (GoA). This approach enhances data access, collaboration, reduces data duplication, and fosters innovation to improve services for Albertans.
The Data Centre of Excellence seeks a resource to support the design and development of analytical data products and services, enabling the GoA to leverage its data assets effectively and support the implementation of the GoA Data Strategy. Working within a team, this expert will ensure high-quality data modeling, algorithm application, de-identification, synthetic data creation, visualizations, and evidence development for use across ministries and external stakeholders. This role will embody the pillars of the Data Strategy by using data to benefit Albertans.
The successful candidate will be a Data Analytics Specialist / Data Scientist with diverse analytical skills and experience in multi-faceted roles, including data analysis, data science, data modeling, statistical analysis, AI & ML, strategizing, advising, data product design, and delivery. There may also be aspects of data engineering, technical analysis, and business analysis.

Equipment Requirements :
In remote work scenarios, the contractor provides all equipment and supplies. The Province ensures access to government systems. For onsite work, the Province provides office space and furniture, while the contractor supplies computers and software. The quoted rate must include all overheads and costs.
Standard hours are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Work must be performed within Canada due to security concerns. The role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite meetings (up to 3-4 times per year), which may be negotiable based on location.

Resource Qualifications :
Experience in data analytics or data science for at least 6 years, with skills in statistical and computer languages, data modeling, and analytical techniques.
Nice to Have :
Additional experience in data sharing, data linkage, de-identification, metadata, data pipelines, visualization, big data technologies, and government datasets.
