Transamerica invites applications for a 14-week spring internship in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role is full-time (about 40 hours/week) and reports to the Director of Finance Transformation, supporting the Data Analytics team in governance, requirements gathering, and AI use case development.

The internship offers exposure to enterprise data practices, data extraction/transformation/visualization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams on analytics initiatives.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support migration of global finance systems to US-based systems.
• Contribute to systems mapping and data flow exercises by analyzing large datasets, identifying trends, and generating actionable insights.

Job Description Summary

Internships are short-term work experiences for a designated period of time that allow college students the opportunity to observe and participate in the professional work environment, to explore how his/her interests relate to possible careers, and to gain practical experience in an industry relating to their field of study.

Job Description

This spring opportunity is 14 weeks long from late-January to late-April. It is full-time hours meaning that interns will work approximately 40 hours a week during normal business hours, Monday - Friday. Students usually take a semester off for a commitment like this. Job Description This intern will report to the Director of Finance Transformation and will support the Data Analytics team in advancing data governance, requirements gathering, and AI use case development. This intern will assist the team in advancing strategic initiatives while gaining exposure to enterprise data practices.

Responsibilities

• Support migration of global finance systems to US-based systems.
• Contribute to systems mapping and data flow exercises by analyzing large datasets, identifying trends, and generating actionable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on analytics initiatives.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and visualization, as well as supporting predictive modeling and performance measurement initiatives.
• Engage in continuous learning opportunities about emerging finance technologies and systems, while offering support across finance transformation projects.
• Contribute to business analysis by comprehending financial workflows and participating in project planning.
• Participate in professional development to refine skills in finance and technology.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information systems, data analytics, or other IT-type degree. Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship. Strong interest in financial systems, data analysis, automation, and process improvement. Willingness to learn new technologies and work in a team-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic to intermediate experience with Excel and SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior relevant internship experience or an interest in the IT field. Exposure to Python, Alteryx, AI, Cloud-technologies. Passion for learning and keeping pace with the latest advances in data science and machine learning.

Working Conditions

Interns will work hybrid in Cedar Rapids, IA. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be in office; Monday and Friday will be work from home days.

Compensation

The salary for this position is within the range of $22 - $25 per hour. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote), and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Intern Allowance

Full-time interns will receive an intern allowance to offset costs associated with relocation, housing, parking/transit, and/or mileage.
