Job Description Summary Performs basic accounting functions or responsibilities requiring general supervision. Utilizes general accounting and financial principles and techniques, and assists in obtaining, assembling, evaluating, interpreting, recording, and analyzing financial data. Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of financial reports and performs or assists in the performance of financial analysis as directed. Responsibilities

Performs professional accounting work involving compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data. Drafts segments of statements and disclosures and ensures the information is complete and accurate. Reconciles, investigates, corrects, and adjusts accounting information in accordance with aggressive deadlines. Prepares financial statements, disclosures, and other reporting requirements for internal management as well as Transamerica’s parent company, Aegon. Uses multiple financial systems and/or reporting tools to produce a variety of analyses. Proactively identifies unique problems, such as reconciliation/posting issues, and seeks help to resolve them, if necessary. Project work and other ad-hoc requests as needed. Assists in the consolidation and reporting of budget and forecast results. Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

Qualifications

To qualify for an internship, applicants must be currently enrolled at a college or university pursuing an accounting degree (other similar degrees such as finance or business analytic-type degrees may be considered- but student must have an interest in accounting principles). Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship. Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Applicants must possess legal authorization to work for our company in the U.S. without the need for immigration sponsorship or otherwise serving as an employer of record for immigration employment purposes. Rewards & Compensation

In addition to gaining exposure to the financial services and insurance industry, students gain access to intern exclusive events and networking opportunities throughout the summer while receiving a competitive compensation. The hourly wage for this position is $21 per hour. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
