Job summary

HAI Group in Cheshire, CT is offering a full-time, paid Finance and Accounting Intern position within the Finance team. You will support day-to-day activities, assist with accounts payable/receivable, and help with month-end close and internal controls while gaining hands-on accounting experience.

The program runs May 31st to mid-August, requires on-site work Monday–Friday, and expects students pursuing Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related fields to join, with a preference for

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
• Candidates outside Accounting/Finance must have a minor or concentration in Accounting/Finance.
• On-site work required at HAI Group office in Cheshire, CT.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day financial activities and complete assignments to build practical accounting and analytical skills under Finance team guidance.
• Assist accounts payable and accounts receivable teams and learn their responsibilities.
• Help with month-end and quarterly close by preparing journal entries and supporting documents.
• Perform basic reconciliations and data entry to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
• Participate in process improvement discussions to enhance documentation, efficiency, or controls.
• Collaborate with Finance team to understand accounting, treasury, FP&A, compliance, and internal audit support.
• Prepare a final presentation summarizing learnings, contributions, and recommendations.

Internship Program Mission:

To attract and engage undergraduate and graduate talent, including students pursuing advanced degrees for specialized roles, by providing meaningful internship opportunities at HAI Group that align with their fields of study and enable them to apply academic knowledge, theory, and skills in a practical workplace environment.

Internship Overview

The finance and accounting intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the Finance team to learn and contribute to the team’s impact to the enterprise. Areas of focus will incorporate disciplines of accounting, financial planning and analysis, compliance and internal audit. The expectations for the intern are to provide a summary presentation of what was learned, how it fits their career path, and provide feedback on opportunities of process improvements. The intern will also participate in group activities with the other interns.

This is a full-time, paid internship that is required to be on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday. The internship program will run from May 31__st – Mid August.

Essential Functions

• Support day-to-day financial activities and complete assignments designed to build practical accounting, analytical, and professional skills under the guidance of Finance team members
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable teams and learn about each team’s responsibilities
• Assist with month-end and quarterly close processes by preparing journalentries,financial statement support, and related documentation.
• Perform basic account reconciliations, data entry, and review of financial informationto help ensure records are accurate, complete, andproperly supported.
• Participate in process improvement discussions and identify opportunities to improve documentation, efficiency, or controls.
• Collaborate with Finance team members to learn how accounting, financial operations, treasury, FP&A, compliance, and internal audit support the organization.
• Prepare a final presentation summarizing key learning experiences, project contributions, observations, and recommendations.

Job Requirements

Required:

• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or other related degrees. Candidates pursuing a major outside of Accounting or Finance must have a minor or concentration in Accounting or Finance.
• Work on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

• Prior work/internship experienceexperience

• A basic understanding of financial and accounting principles
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
