Responsibilities

Job description

The City and County of San Francisco is building a unified analytics environment through its Controller’s BI Platform Change project, with a migration of Reports and Analytics into a Snowflake-based platform. In this onsite role, you will support the functional and technical work needed to deliver dashboards, reporting, ETL, and data models while partnering across teams to improve performance and data quality.

What you’ll do
  • Analyze interrelationships across business processes, complex financial data, human resources data, and systems to define reporting requirements and data structures.
  • Conduct fit/gap analysis to evaluate reporting and data needs.
  • Develop and maintain OBIEE/OAS dashboards, analyses, and BI Publisher reports.
  • Design and enhance RPDs, including the Physical, BMM & Presentation Layers.
  • Support Subject Areas, Logical Table Sources (LTS), and metadata models.
  • Build ETL solutions using ODI, including query optimization, cache management, and performance tuning, plus production support, enhancements, and troubleshooting.
  • Write business and system process and technical documentation.
  • Identify, manage, and elevate issues and risks throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications
  • An associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or its equivalent in total course credits/units (at least 60 semester or 90 quarter credits/units, including a minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter credits/units in one of the listed fields).
  • One (1) year of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining system or platform components.
  • One year of additional experience may substitute for the required degree, or completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may substitute for the required degree.
Desirable qualifications
  • Working expertise in OBIEE, OAS, ODI, BI Publisher, SQL, and data warehousing.
  • Hands-on experience in RPD development, dashboard creation, performance tuning, and security implementation.
  • Experience in the information systems field, including system analysis, business process design, development and implementation of business application solutions, or IT project management.
  • Hands-on experience administering and developing Oracle databases, plus experience with Snowflake managed cloud data platform.
  • Demonstrated expertise writing advanced, performant SQL for SQL-based data transformation and modeling.
  • Experience applying dbt best practices for layered data architecture (staging, intermediate, marts), including parameterized and dynamic dbt models using Jinja templating.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub for code change management and collaboration.
  • Experience building and deploying data pipelines using orchestration tools, including understanding the process to build and deploy data pipelines with orchestration tools.
  • Deep understanding of data warehouse concepts, data modeling, and modern ETL principles.
  • Understanding of data governance, data security, and data privacy principles.
  • Experience performing data analysis, design, and testing with PeopleSoft applications, including PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Management (FSCM) and PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM).
  • Experience working with DBAs, BI Development team, PeopleSoft, and Security teams to improve performance and data quality using Agile sessions.
  • Working knowledge of business process flows supporting a complex accounting system, including developing and executing application test plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design practical, effective data solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset across diverse, cross-functional teams.

Location: San Francisco, CA (onsite)

Compensation: USD 143,572 - 180,596 per year

Minimum experience: 1 year
