Data Analyst II - with Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000

General Duties:

Aleut is seeking a qualified and experienced Data Analyst II to support the Space Launch Delta (SLD) 30 Data Science Team (DST) at Vandenberg SFB, CA by developing training materials and conduct training sessions for SLD 30 personnel. Work starts July 7, 2025.

The SLD 30 DST is responsible for delivering, testing, and training SLD 30 on novel applications that will transform SLD 30 Operations, Support, and Business functions.

The U.S. Space Force (USSF) Space Launch Delta 30 (SLD 30), located at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), supports West Coast launch activities for the Air Force, Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, national programs and various private industry contractors. SLD 30 supports the processing and launch of a variety of expendable vehicles including Atlas V, Delta IV, Pegasus, Minotaur, and Falcon 9. The Delta also supports Force Development and Evaluation of all intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as Missile Defense Agency (MDA) test and operations.

Specific Duties:

The Data Analyst II will develop training materials and conduct Training sessions for 50-100 users on the following applications:

  • VSFB Launch Readiness Posture Application. An automated personnel and equipment focused assessment system showing the readiness of VSFB and describe the weakest elements on VSFB's equipment and personnel that can degrade our readiness.
  • VSFB Capital Investment Plan Application. With the Launch Readiness Posture Application describe direct capital investments with realistic cost and schedule baselines to strengthen the posture of the weakest readiness items.
  • VSFB Personnel Retention Modeling. Identify areas within VSFB where our retention of civilian and military workforce has the highest risk of attrition and risk factors that exacerbate the loss of personnel. Elements of social sciences, morale, stress, wellness, and psychological factors will be modeled in this analysis.
  • VSFB Strategic Success Application. Deliver an application containing all previous deliverables to the government in a containerized and deployable format and, if directed, deploy it to a cloud hosting environment with all required technical management guides and user guides.
  • Work with business and application/solution teams to analyze data and analyze results
  • Perform hands-on modeling, design, and configuration,
  • Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks


Work Location/Travel: Remote/This role will require occasional travel to Vandenberg SFB, CA, Los Angeles SFB, CA and Patrick SFB, FL (10% of workload)

Required Skills:

  • Business Data Analytics: 1 - 3 years

  • A minimum of 6 months of Python programming experience
  • Experience with data cleaning/processing, dataset merging and analytics, and exposure to Databricks
  • Data Repository architecture design & implementation skills
  • Programmatic Cross Referencing to external platforms for data lineage and RBAC access control
  • Import of Meta data into Databricks Unity Catalog and enforcing Delta table Schemas
  • Create data ingestion pipelines and automation into Databricks from native storage locations
  • Produce data product tables
  • Deliver training to users via a live Databricks notebook tutorials
  • Create Solution Blueprints (technical design documents) that defines automation requirements
  • Databrick Workflows via Apache Spark
  • Capability to leverage Serverless Databrick SQL Endpoints
  • Create dashboards using Tableau
  • Develop Serverless Microservices via Serverless Functions for automation
  • Capability to demonstrate automated pipelines through Agile Sprint Cycles with end user feedback/improvement
  • Overall management and administrative effort for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling tasks and activities

  • Active or current Secret clearance or the ability to get an interim clearance required


Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Pursue efforts related to specific research questions/problem areas, including literature review, background study, data interrogation, and analysis using statistical/quantitative and qualitative methods to develop strategic insights/recommendations.
  • Project management skills, including maintaining multi-deadline, fluid set of projects under Agile management methods; overall project management proficiency including monitoring and controlling projects and communicating across all project stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize thoughts and communicate clearly and effectively to the intended audience for the selected medium, including visual aids as appropriate.
  • Oral communication skills in-person and online, to varying audiences; development of presentation aids, causing audience(s) to retain knowledge.


Education and Required Experience:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field and 1+ year of relevant experience; or bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience


Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000
